USC Aiken Men’s Basketball National Leader in Blocked Shots

INDIANAPOLIS – In the latest NCAA Division II national statistics, the University of South Carolina Aiken men’s basketball team is No. 1 in the country in blocked shots as a team out of 275 teams.

The national statistical rankings are based off games through Jan. 23, 2011. 

The Pacers are averaging 6.5 blocks per game as a unit.

Reigning Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week Alvin Brown (Fort Washington, Md./James Madison) is currently sixth in the nation in blocks individually with 3.1 per outing. Philadelphia’s Temi Adebayo is the national leader with 3.8 blocked per contest.

The 18th-ranked USC Aiken women are currently 18th in the nation in scoring defense, allowing just 54.8 points per game. Cal St. Monterey Bay is the national leader in the category at 50.8 points given up per game.

Triahna Harris (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) is currently 13th in the nation in assist/turnover ratio at 2.19. West Liberty’s Lauren Malernee is the national leader at 4.0.

The USC Aiken athletic department announced that they are currently selling presale tickets for the USC Aiken-Augusta State doubleheader at the Convocation Center on Feb. 2.



Tickets for USC Aiken's men's and women's basketball doubleheader against rival Augusta State at the Convocation Center in Aiken, S.C. are $6. Children, visiting students and senior citizens will have $4 tickets available.



Gates will open for the twinbill on Wednesday, Feb. 2 an hour before tip-off of the women's game.



The action gets underway on Feb. 2 at 5:30 p.m. with the 18th-ranked USC Aiken women taking on the Augusta State women. Immediately following the women’s game at approximately 7:30 p.m. the Pacer men will take on the third-ranked Jaguar men.
