The 2010 Peach Belt Conference Tournament champion USC Aiken
Pacers are the sixth seed in the NCAA Division II Southeast
Regional and the Pacers will play PBC rival and third-seeded
Georgia College & State in the first round at 12 p.m. on
Saturday, March 13 at Christenberry Fieldhouse in Augusta, Ga.
The NCAA Division II Southeast Regional will begin with first round
games on Saturday, March 13. The regional semifinals are scheduled
for Sunday, March 14. The regional championship will be contested
on Tuesday, March 16.
The winner of the USC Aiken and GCSU contest will play the winner
of the No. 7 Montevallo-No. 2 Mount Olive contest in the semifinals
on Sunday, March 14.
The Southeast Regional overall will consist of four sessions and
include seven games over a four-day stretch. Georgia College &
State (22-5), the No. 3 seed, and sixth-seeded USC Aiken (19-10)
will tip off quarterfinal play at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Just
after the Pacers and Bobcats square off at 2:30 p.m., second-seeded
Mount Olive (25-5) and No. 7 Montevallo (23-7) will meet in the
second game of session one.
The top-seeded Augusta State Jaguars (26-3) and No. 8 Brevard
(21-9) will tangle in the first game of the second session at 6
p.m. before No. 4 Catawba (20-10) and No. 5 seed Anderson (23-7)
wrap up the first day's play at 8:30 p.m.
All tickets for the 2010 NCAA Southeast Regional are $10 and are
available for purchase online at the official website of ASU
Athletics -- www.aug.edu/athletics -- and will be available
for purchase at the Christenberry Fieldhouse box office beginning
Saturday morning at 11:00 a.m.
There will be no advanced ticket sales.
The Pacers will be participating in their third straight NCAA
Division II Tournament. The Pacers have been to the NCAA Tournament
four times in their history. Prior to USC Aiken's first of now
three consecutive NCAA trips, the Pacers had last been in the
tournament in 1998.
Last season, USC Aiken advanced to its first NCAA Division "Sweet
Sixteen." The Pacers are 3-3 all-time in the NCAA Division II
Tournament.
USC Aiken, playing in its third straight Marvin Vanover Peach Belt
Conference Basketball Championship Game this past Sunday, claimed
its first Peach Belt Conference Tournament title since 1993.
USC Aiken is currently 19-10 overall on the 2009-10 season. The
Pacers have won a school-record 71 games over the last three
seasons.
The Pacers and GCSU squared off earlier this season in
Milledgeville, Ga. with the Pacers earning a 69-65 victory over the
Bobcats on Feb. 13, 2010.
