Carmon Named South Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week

AIKEN, S.C. - University of South Carolina Aiken baseball player Stephen Carmon was selected as the South Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week on Feb. 21, 2011.

Carmon concluded 22nd-ranked USC Aiken’s perfect 4-0 week last week hitting .625 (10-for-16) with a slugging percentage of .875. He had an on-base percentage of .650. Carmon finished with five runs scored and four RBIs on the week.

Carmon had four doubles and stole four bases in the four Pacer wins.

The junior shortstop from Camden, S.C. began last week by going 1-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored in USC Aiken’s dominating 12-5 victory over Newberry on Wednesday, Feb. 16.

In USC Aiken’s series sweep of Shippensburg this past weekend at Roberto Hernandez Stadium, Carmon was 9-for-12 (.750) at the plate. He had a slugging percentage of 1.000 with an on-base percentage of .786.

The Camden High School product opened the series by going a perfect 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored in USC Aiken’s 10-2 win on Friday, Feb. 18. He had two doubles in the Pacer win.

In the second game of the series, Carmon was 4-for-5 with two RBIs and one run scored in USC Aiken’s 6-2 win on Saturday, Feb. 19.

In the 8-5 Shippensburg series finale victory on Sunday, Feb. 20, Carmon was 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
