Carmon Named South Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week
AIKEN, S.C. - University of South Carolina Aiken baseball player Stephen Carmon was named the South Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week on April 17, 2011.
Carmon is now a two-time winner of the award in the 2011 season as he also claimed South Carolina Education Lottery USC Aiken Athletic Department Student-Athlete of the Week laurels on Feb. 21, 2011.
In USC Aiken’s five games last week, Carmon hit a team-best .714 (10-for-14). The junior shortstop owned an on-base percentage of .818 and a slugging percentage of 1.214.
Carmon scored eight runs to go along with two RBIs. He also had eight stolen bases on the week.
The Camden, S.C. native collected 17 total bases to go along with four extra-base knocks on two doubles, one triple and a home run.
Carmon was lethal in USC Aiken’s series win over 20th-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State, going 9-for-11 from the plate for a .818 batting average. In the series win, Carmon owned an on-base percentage of .857 and a slugging percentage of 1.455.
Carmon opened the series win over the Pirates by going a perfect 4-for-4 on Friday, April 15. Carmon had a double and a triple in the contest as well as an RBI and a run scored.
In the first game of USC Aiken’s doubleheader sweep of the nationally-ranked Pirates on Saturday, April 16, Carmon was 3-for-4 with two runs scored.
In the second game of the sweep on Saturday, Carmon finished his day 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI. He belted a home run in the game.
