DELAND, Fla. – University of South Carolina Aiken senior outfielder Stephen Bellantoni was named to the North All-Star team in the Florida Collegiate Summer League on Friday, July 8, 2011.
The Pacer centerfielder is an All-Star for the second consecutive season. Last year, Bellantoni claimed Most Valuable Player accolades in the Florida League All-Star game. He was 2-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base in the All-Star game.
Playing for the DeLand Suns, Bellantoni is currently hitting .317 in 24 games. Bellantoni has scored 20 runs to go along with five RBIs. He has stolen a league-best 17 bases.
Bellantoni was the stolen base leader in the Florida League in 2010, swiping 24 bases in 36 regular season games.
In his first season in a Pacer uniform in 2011, Bellantoni, a transfer out of Lake Sumter Community College, hit .289 (56-for-194) in 50 games started. He was one of only two Pacers to start all 50 games in 2011. The Oviedo, Fla. native stole a team second-best 23 bases this past season.
The 2011 Florida League All-Star game will be contested on Tuesday, July 12 at Historic Sanford Memorial Stadium in Sanford, Fla.
