Aiken baseball team moved up three spots to No. 7 in the
latest Collegiate Baseball Newspaper NCAA
Division II Top 30.
The Pacers are ranked sixth in the latest Ping!Baseball NCAA
Division II Top 30, which was also released on Monday
afternoon.
USC Aiken is the highest ranked team in one of the best conferences
in all of Division II baseball. The Pacers are one of six Peach
Belt Conference teams ranked in total with three of the six ranked
in the top 11. USC Aiken (seventh) is followed by Columbus State
(ninth), Francis Marion (11th), North Georgia (16th), UNC Pembroke
(17th) and Georgia College & State (19th) in the
latest Collegiate Baseball Newspaper NCAA
Division II Top 30.
USC Aiken’s overall series victory over 17th-ranked UNC
Pembroke last weekend leaves the Pacers in sole possession of first
place not only in the Peach Belt Conference East, but in all of the
PBC through the first four conference series of the 2010 season.
USC Aiken is the only PBC team with 10 league wins presently. The
Pacers are currently 10-2 in PBC action on the year.
The Pacers are now 20-8
overall on the 2010 season. USC Aiken, which has now won five
straight three-game series dating back to Feb. 20, has also now
claimed victory in 17 of its last 19 outings.
The seventh-ranked USC Aiken baseball team begins the upcoming week
by traveling to Augusta, Ga. to face off against rival Augusta
State at Lake Olmstead Stadium on Tuesday, March 23 in the second
game of the 2010 Outback Cup. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30
p.m.
USC Aiken claimed the
first game of the 2010 Outback Cup with a 9-3 victory over the
Jaguars at the ‘Bert on March 3. This is the second year of
the Outback Cup with USC Aiken claiming the inaugural Outback Cup
in 2009 with two victories over Augusta State.
USC Aiken’s baseball team will close out its week after
taking on the Jaguars in the Outback Cup with a three-game Peach
Belt Conference series at Roberto Hernandez Stadium against No. 19
Georgia College & State.
The USC Aiken-Georgia College & State series will begin with a
doubleheader on Saturday, March 27 at 3 p.m. The series will
conclude with a single 1 p.m. game on Sunday, March 28.
