AIKEN, SC--USC Aiken’s men’s
soccer team has been picked by the league’s coaches to finish sixth
this season in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC). The conference office
released the poll on Monday. USC Spartanburg was chosen as the unanimous
pick, earning six first place votes and the maximum 36 points.
The Pacers picked up 10 points, finishing ahead of last place UNC Pembroke
by three points. USC Aiken’s season begins on September 3, when they
travel to the University of Montevallo in Montevallo, Ala. The match is
set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
Last season USCA finished last in the PBC with an 0-5-1 mark. The Pacers
finished 7-10-1 overall.
Clayton State followed USC Spartanburg with 27 points. Francis Marion placed
third in the poll with 26 points. Lander (22 points) and North Florida
(19 points) finished fourth and fifth respectively, followed by the Pacers
and UNC Pembroke.
Six points were awarded for a first-place vote, five for a second-place
vote and so on. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own teams.
