GREENVILLE,
S.C.--The USC Aiken women’s cross country team placed 19th
out of 24 teams at the Furman Invitational hosted by Furman University
on Saturday in Greenville, S.C. The Lady Pacers ran seventh out of
10 non-Division I teams.
Campbell University took home the team title with 65 total points. Eastern Kentucky
came in second with 82 points while Clemson (102), North Florida (137), and the
host Furman Paladins (153) round out spots three through five.
Individually, Marcie Milner led the Lady Pacers for the fifth time in five meets
this season with a time of 21:54. The junior from Aiken, S.C. placed 92nd overall
out of 192 runners. Campbell’s Alicia Valtin took home the individual title
with a 5K time of 18:19.
Freshman Renea Marshall placed 102nd with a time of 22:12 while freshman Alley
Dachenhaus crossed the line 12 seconds after Marshall in 111th at 22:24. Senior
Ashley Reedy finished 124th at 22:52 while Katie Halvorsen placed 171st with
a time of 26:03.
USC Aiken will now have two weeks to prepare for the Peach Belt Conference Championships
on Saturday, October 22 in Pembroke, N.C. UNC Pembroke will serve as host for
the meet.
