CHARLESTON,
S.C.--With three Lady Pacers finishing within seven seconds of
one another, and inside the top 30, the USC Aiken cross country team
placed sixth out of nine teams at The Citadel Invitational hosted by
The Citadel on Saturday in Charleston, S.C.
Carson-Newman captured the team title with 61 total points, just ahead of Savannah
College of Art & Design’s (SCAD) 63 points. Wingate (72) was third,
followed by Converse (120) and Lenoir-Rhyne (140) rounding out the top five.
After USC Aiken’s 158 points, Augusta State (163) was seventh, Spartanburg
Methodist (166) eighth, and Catawba (224) ninth.
Individually, Marcie Milner finished 22nd out of 63 runners with a time of 21:40.
The junior from Aiken, S.C. has been the top Lady Pacer finisher in all four
meets thus far this season. SCAD’s Hilary White took home the individual
title with a 5K time of 18:15.
Renea Marshall was just five seconds behind Milner at 21:45 to finish 24th. Senior
Ashley Reedy crossed the line two seconds behind Marshall for 26th place. Freshman
Alley Dachenhaus turned in a time of 22:33 to finish 35th while Katie Halvorsen
finished the race with a time of 24:51 to place 56th.
USC Aiken will compete in two weeks at the Furman Invitational on October 8.
The meet will begin at 10:00 AM.
