LADY PACERS SHOW WELL AT WINGATE INVITATIONAL
MARCIE MILNER PLACES 31st INDIVIDUALLY FOR USC AIKEN

Alley DachenhausWINGATE, N.C.--Facing their toughest competition to date, the USC Aiken women’s cross country team posted an impressive showing of 10th out of 17 teams at the 2005 Wingate Invitational hosted by Wingate University. Six of the top 10 teams in the NCAA South Atlantic Region ran in the 6K race, with the Lady Pacers finishing just 16 points by third-ranked Anderson College.

Alabama-Huntsville ran away with the team title with a meet-low 37 points after four of their five runners finished in the top 10. The host Bulldogs were second with 107 points followed by Mars Hill (113), Clayton State (150), and Queens University of Charlotte (168) rounding out the top five. Clayton State was the only Peach Belt Conference school to best the Lady Pacers with USCA finishing ahead of Georgia College & State University, who were 13th.

Individually, Clayton State’s Allison Kreutzer won the race with a time of 22:57. For USC Aiken, junior Marcie Milner placed 31st with a time of 26:21. Alley Dachenhaus and Ashley Reedy crossed the finish line neck and neck placing 50th and 51st respectively separated by a second at 27:24 and 27:25. Renea Marshall finished in 27:53 to place 56th while recent addition Katie Halvorsen was 92nd with a time of 31:10.

USC Aiken will travel to Charleston, S.C. next weekend to compete in The Citadel Invitational on Saturday, September 24 at 10:00 AM.
