GREENWOOD,
S.C.--Behind the strength of four Lady Pacers finishing in the
top 25, the USC Aiken cross country team placed fifth out of 10 teams
at the 15th Annual Connie Maxwell Invitational hosted by Lander University
in Greenwood, S.C. It marked the program’s best finish at the
event since 2000, when USCA placed third out of eight squads.
Southern Wesleyan won the event with 50 points while the host Lander Bearcats
were second with 72 points. Anderson was a close third with 74 points followed
by Presbyterian (89), USC Aiken (117), Spartanburg Methodist (163), Newberry
(194), Erskine (195), Toccoa Falls (198), and Limestone (227).
Individually, Marcie Milner finished fifth out of 71 runners with a time of 20:39.
Last week, the junior from Aiken, S.C. came in 16th out of 212 competitors at
the Eye Opener in Spartanburg, S.C. Anderson’s Jennifer Hitt and Diana
Willard went one and two with times of 19:14 and 19:35.
Newcomer Renea Marshall continues to impress with a 15th place finish turning
in a time of 21:43. Senior Ashley Reedy was 19th with a time of 21:43 while freshman
Alley Dachenhaus placed 23rd after finishing the 5K course in 22:29. Junior Jen
Mascarin shaved over 20 seconds off her time from last week in placing 56th at
26:44.
USC Aiken will compete next Saturday at the Wingate Invitational hosted by Wingate
University. The meet will begin at 10:00 AM.
