USCA PLACES NINTH AT GEORGIA STATE INVITATIONAL
LADY PACERS FINISH AHEAD OF PBC RIVAL AUGUSTA STATE

ATLANTA, GA--USC Aiken’s cross country team placed ninth at the Georgia State University Invitational on Saturday. The event was held in Atlanta and hosted by Georgia State University.

Junior Veronica Derico (Aiken, S.C.) led the Lady Pacers by finishing 90th in a time of 22:21. This was the second time in two weeks Derico was the top finisher for USC Aiken. Kristyn Holley (Belvedere, S.C.) crossed the line in 98th place in a time of 22:52 and Ashley Reedy (Jefferson, Md.) finished 99th with a time of 23:01.

“We didn’t place any higher as a team this week, but four of our five runners improved their times from last week, that’s what I’m looking for right now,” said Head Coach Dana Richter. “And now we have experience on the same course that the Peach Belt Championships will be held.”

Amy Ransom (East Ridge, Tenn.) and Ashley Northington (Aiken, S.C.) finished 118th and 132nd.

USCA earned 282 points, finishing 11 points ahead of Augusta State. Alabama-Huntsville won the team title with a low of 38 points. Jenn Feenstra of Georgia State finished with the best individual time in 17:46.

The Lady Pacers will compete again next Saturday at the 16th Annual Francis Marion University Invitational in Florence, S.C. The meet will begin at 8:45 a.m.
